"Building Attention Span"

                     David Brooks: "Building Attention Span"

David Brook's, in his article "Building Attention Span" published in the New York Times discuss the difference between attention span. I have a hard time paying attention. For instant when people are talking to me or when I am reading something, I tend too wonder off into my own little world. In the article it states that "Being online is like being part of the greatest cocktail party ever and it is going on all the time." I can relate in way, because when I am at a family event or at school, or even just at home, if I get bored i'm always on my phone, because it's different world to me. And I feel like that's how other people feel , cause they can get away from the actual world and they control everything they do without people criticizing them. They can be there- self and no one will judge them, there's always someone to talk too, you meet new people, and make new friends. I like to be in my own little world at some points in the week when I am having a bad day or i'm just feeling stressed out. although there are some bad things about having a bad attention span. Furthermore this one time I was walking and I was more into my phone instead of paying attention to my surroundings, and I almost got hit by a car, cause of the fact that I was in my own little world I did not realize I had walked into the middle of the road. And I feel that the reason why we have so many  wrecks, and kidnappings. People are so much too worried about whats going on in social media to not paying attention or to check there surroundings that they end up taking there own life or even someone else. I would recommend this article to young teenagers coming into high school or too kids in middle school, because of the fact that parents, and teachers are starting to give kids electronics early in life. As they start getting older they start to rely on their computers or cellphones. They are not being involved in outside activities, they are more worried about being on social media and playing video games rather then be outside with friends.

  1. "For instant when people are talking to me or when i am reading something, i tend too wonder into my own little world" i felt that, it happens to me all the time where i just zoom out and don't pay attention to who is talking to me or what i suppose to be doing . Anyways i like your recommendation, kids need to get off their phone and star paying attention to the real world.
